Recess Rules!
As we enter the fall season, please be sure to send your child with jackets or sweatshirts for those brisk days! We get the students out for recess as much as we can! Of course, we are in New England, and it appears that there are still some 70 degree days in our future! It's always better to have layers that can be shed, than to be cold with nothing to put on.

P.E. Partnerships!
Mr. White had students working cooperatively as a team this week to pass a ball to each other and make it all the way across the gym. Everyone did a great job while working on our foundational transfer goal of Communicate & Collaborate!

Fire Drill Frenzy!
Our preschoolers did an awesome job when our fire alarm went off unexpectedly this week! Everyone exited the building safely and quietly while the EFD checked out the building. With the ups and downs in the temperatures this week, the alarm was triggered by the humidity in the air. Thank you to all the parents who waited patiently in the drop-off line during our drill!

Johnny Appleseed Visits Parkview!
We celebrated Johnny Appleseed's birthday on Wednesday as "Johnny" (a.k.a. Mr. "Seed"erbaum) visited classrooms to tell the tale of John Chapman. Other Johnny Appleseed activities took place around the building too!

Community Meeting!
We held our first Community Meeting of the year on Thursday. We reviewed all the ways we demonstrated RESPECT this month. We also discussed October's theme of FAIRNESS and how we could bring it to life within Parkview for the month. Second graders shared with us some of the many things they've been working on in class this month. We heard about space, urban and rural communities, and nature. Ms. Ventre's class even taught us all a song! Lastly, we celebrated by handing out our first Proud Panda Awards and the Box Top Trophy! Congrats to Mrs. Resca's class for having the most box tops this month! Keep them coming in. We're well on way to our goal of 7,000 box tops by Thanksgiving!

Race Me to 5!
Mrs. Hanegan's class learned a new math game this week! Students learned how to play Race Me To 5 with a partner. But more importantly, they learned how to play fairly, be a good sport, and of course, have fun!

Space Camp!
As a culmination of 2 weeks of space stories in reading, Mrs. Eaton's class journeyed to Space Camp. With the help of parent volunteers, students worked their way through 4 "space themed" STEM activities!

Preschool Detectives!
Students in Miss Erica's class were on the hunt for the letter B when I visited this week!

Word Wall Winners!
Mrs. Reese's class followed the clues to their 5th and 6th word wall words this week! They added see and can to their growing list of sight words!

Picnics, Pajamas, and Mix-ups, Oh My!
Our Pandas have been working hard this month to earn class rewards for positive behaviors. Some of the rewards they've chosen are a teddy bear picnic, pajama day, crazy hair day, and mix-up day. I love seeing these celebrations of hard work throughout the building.

PAWS-itive Referrals!
Our PAWS-itive Referral wall continues to grow. This week we had Pandas helping those in need, cheering up a friend, and being role models within their classrooms. Keep up the great work boys and girls!

Apples All Around!
Several apple activities took place this week. There were lots of tastings, graphing, singing, and fun art projects!

October Happenings!
This coming week we will celebrate World Smile Day, a beloved Parkview tradition! The theme of the day is "do an act of kindness, make a person smile!" We will carry this theme out throughout the month of October. First, we will be helping out the Leo Club from OA by collecting eyeglasses. We will also be celebrating Socktober by collecting socks and hygiene items for Father Bills & MainSpring. Be on the lookout for a flyer this week! Thank you in advance for supporting these wonderful causes!

Direct Giving Gaining Momentum!
Splish splash, Mr. C. will soon be taking a bath.....in the DUNK TANK at Family Fun Day! We are almost at our goal of $5,000! Keep those donations coming!
